Who we are

Tech-Bytes is the trading name of Daryl Hunter, a sole trader in England and Wales. For data protection law, Daryl Hunter is the controller for personal information collected through this website and during customer enquiries, quotes and service delivery.

What personal information we collect

• Contact details such as name, email address, phone number and business name.
• Messages, support requests, quote details and project requirements.
• Customer account, hosting, DNS, domain, managed VPN and support details needed to provide agreed services.
• Billing and payment records, although payment card details should be handled by your payment provider and not stored by us.
• Technical information such as IP addresses, contact form metadata, access logs, device/browser details, rate-limiting records and security logs.

Why we use personal information

Who we share information with

We only share personal information where necessary, for example with hosting providers, domain registrars, DNS providers, email/contact-form providers, support tools, payment providers, accountants, insurers, professional advisers, and authorities where required by law.

Current key supplier categories include providers needed to run the website and provide customer services, such as hosting, email/contact-form delivery, domain/DNS, payment, accounting and security providers. Specific providers will be confirmed where relevant to your service.

International transfers

Some suppliers may process information outside the UK. Where this happens, we will use appropriate safeguards such as UK adequacy regulations or approved contractual protections where required.

How long we keep information

• Enquiries that do not become customers: normally up to 12 months, unless a longer period is needed for legal, security or dispute reasons.
• Customer records: for the life of the customer relationship and then as needed for legal, tax, accounting and dispute purposes.
• Accounting and tax records: normally up to 6 years.
• Security logs and backups: normally up to 30-180 days, unless needed to investigate abuse, fraud or security incidents.

Your rights and choices
